- Before the NVidia 9900 series and the ATI 4800 series: The Stall
- By: AKI HORIE
So, some of you may know that there are some leaked information in the upcoming NVIdia 9900 series and ATI 4800 series. However, since then, there has been no new information leaked, no product reviews, no nothing. Wondering why?
Well, since NVidia and ATI leaked out information(yes, they do intentionally do that to hype up their customers), there has been nothing happening in the GPU market. Sure, the prices of many newer GPU's, such as the newer 8800 G92 series, the 9800 series, and the ATI Radeon 3800 series, have gone down dramatically in the last couple weeks. But that's because the GPU's are becoming more abundant, or the newer cards are becoming more abundant so the older cards are less needed. This I'm going to call "The Stall".
Why? Because there's basically nothing happening in the GPU market right now, and all that's left for us to drool on are the NVidia 9900 series and the ATI 4800 series. It used to be that NVidia would release a new GPU every 4 months or so, and ATI would fight back with newer GPU's, and it was very exciting to watch what would happen; but right now, it's somewhat boring. NVidia and ATI are basically stalling right now for time, and dropping prices on their GPU's is one of their methods of doing that. But, from people like me, I'm starting to lose interest instead of keeping the hype up. When the new GPU's get released, I'll be excited again, but right now, it's simply just stalling, wasting time, and losing some customers. NVidia and ATI, please use another tactic.
